Ord Arboretum Serves As Living Classroom for MUDFEST

Students from five area elementary schools traded pencils, textbooks and desks for soil, water and sunshine Sept. 17 at the Arboretum in Ord for the fourth annual MUDFEST, hosted by the Lower Loup Natural Resources District (NRD).

The day was all about having fun with soil and mud while learning about and celebrating Nebraska's natural resources. Third and fourth graders from Ord Elementary, Ord St. Mary's Catholic School, St. Paul, Central Valley and Wheeler Central rotated through five hands-on stations along the Arboretum's trail, where they explored topics including soil compaction, forest...
